St Johns Chapel Auction Mart, Weardale is run by Barnard Castle Auction mart.
Seasonal sales of breeding and store sheep are held between August and November drawing stock from Weardale and many high lying farms in surrounding areas. Sheep from this area are well known for their hardiness and thriving ability.
The Swaledale “D” District Ram sale in October is the most prestigious event held attracting buyers from all parts of the UK.
